In the first series of this ongoing project, I approach field recordings with the intention of dissolving the often-used distinction between ‘nature’ and ‘human.’ I aim to make "my presence" "visible," with no intention of "disappearing" behind the sounds I capture, thereby highlighting the lack of neutrality within the practice.
As soon as I arrived on the island, I observed the impact of summer tourism and the emerging conflicts it caused. My strategy was clear: I positioned the microphone in locations where the effects of human impact were evident, aiming to subvert the listener’s expectations. Rather than grandiloquent soundscapes or solitary, undefined sites, these recordings try to capture our subtle yet telling traces.
